Seeing this systemic vulnerability, our founder, Rabinder Singh Sikand, set out to do what the industry avoided: engineer a reliable, borderless and legally defensible verification pipeline
The Idea
Back in 2004, the background verification industry relied on fragmented local systems and guesswork. Most providers simply rubber-stamped resumes, accepting them as absolute truth. Seeing an opportunity to fix this, our founder partnered with Lester Rosen, a pioneer in the American background check industry and founder of the PBSA. Recognizing our shared commitment to true risk mitigation, Rosen’s California-based firm trusted GSS to architect and manage their international verification pipeline.

Successfully executing this complex, high-stakes global delivery gave us the exact operational playbook we needed for our next major milestone, an end-to-end Background Verification process for Indian firms, transforming corporate screening from a transactional task into a gold standard for institutional safety.
The Indian Dream
GSS was tasked with verifying candidates across dozens of countries, each with its own legal frameworks, language barriers, from Brazil to Philippines and everywhere in between. We had to build a global verification blueprint from scratch, establishing direct-to-source networks worldwide and ensuring every check met rigorous, American-grade legal defensibility.
Successfully executing this complex, high-stakBy 2006, global tech giants like Accenture, Yahoo, and IBM were rapidly entering the Indian market. They brought with them strict, uncompromising compliance standards, but found almost no local verification that could meet their ask. While we were quietly growing and mastering the art of verification, this economic shift put us at the forefront, taking on this challenge changed how India and the world sees Employment Verification.
Our rigour and mastery on verification systems for these very types of multinational enterprises was well established, these tech giants entrusted us to bring those same elite standards to India.
Starting operations in India in 2006, GSS redefined how background checks were conducted through deep collaboration with enterprise HR leaders. The thorough, direct-to-source process GSS defined in 2006 became, and remains today, the marquee gold standard for employment verification in India. We were the first to establish a written, attested and verified claim for every detail and HR leaders could finally breathe a sign of relief and be sure of every hire.
Our reputation for absolute integrity, accuracy, and speed quickly attracted marquee clients across highly regulated industries, including Pfizer, Castrol, CSC, ITC India, and ANZ Bank. Most notably, GSS became an industry trailblazer by managing the entire background check process for Amazon in India for over fifteen years, building a robust, faultless operation that continues to set the benchmark for the industry today.
